How can I paint a Chevy emblem black with pink outline on the silver?
Q. My girlfriend is getting a Chevy Cobalt and wants the Chevy sign to be black in the gold part with a pink outline where the silver is. I need the steps on how to take it off and what paints to use that can withstand the weather like hail, rain, bugs, etc... If you have the answer please help. Thank you!

A. i wouldnt reccomend not taking off the emblem, however on newer cars emblems are tricky to remove without breaking them unless you have experience, Step 1- remove the emblem step2- sand the emblem with a soft grit sandpaper such as 320, because paint doesnt stick to smooth surfaces step 3- paint the emblem completly black with rustolium gloss black auto paint, it comes in a can, available at auto zone step 4- after the black paint is dry, outline the area you want to be pink with a fine line tape all the way around, then cover the rest of the area you dont want to be pink with tape also step 5- find pink paint, i dont think autozone has that, but spray that, once thats dry remove the tape and youll have your emblem like i said… [cont.]

Also the owner before me had cut the front end off and put on a 80's chevy truck front end. This is my first car restoration and im only 19. I want to make a hot rod type truck. A. I own a shop, and I would either use a slim jim or a coat hanger. Most all towing companies have the slim jim's and will do it for a fee. A lot of cop cars carry them too, so if you know a cop, then maybe he will open it for you. A slim jim works by sliding it down beside the glass on the door, and hooking the lever rod that runs from the front lock knob to the latch on the door, and then just pull up on it and the door unlocks. Wrecker drivers usually have them in their truck so they can pull vehicles off the roadside that people have left there. How do you get good horsepower out of a chevy 350?
Q. I have a chevy 350 out of a 1990 chevy 1500 4x4. I think it has about 200 horsepower right now and I want to rebuild it and get 300-350 horsepower. I probably don't want to spend more than $900 I also want to put rebuilt vortec heads on it and that will cost about $250.

In my experience a 73 Nova will be fairly inexpensive, but being 16 will drive it way up. And, inexpensive is a relative term. Anyway the point I wanted to make is part of the rate will be based on the engine that originally came in the car. The engine code is the 5th digit in the VIN. They won't ask what engine you have, they'll look at that number. The 250 6 cylinder will be cheaper than the 350. FYI, the factory engines: D = 250 1bbl L6 F = 307 2bbl V8 H = 350 2bbl V8 K = 350 4bbl V8

Q. I have a 1951 Chevrolet business coupe that had a 216 but we took it out and put a 1957 Chevrolet truck 235 in it. That engines lower bearrings went out. I'm wandering and pondering on swaping it out to a chevy small block. I'm needing to know how much fabercation I will need to do or how or what sizes may or will bolt right in. Also wandering about my solid drive shaft I've heard I need to swap out the rear end also to do this. Does any one know what rear ends will fit under my coupe.

A. In your 51 Chevrolet business coupe you have an enclosed (solid) drive shaft so yes you will have to swap out the rear end (at least thats the easiest). A common thing done to these cars was to get a donor car i.e. Chevy Nova, Camaro...etc and then do what is called "subframing it" This is where you cut the front frame rails and suspension off both cars and then put the later model one on. This will give you your small block motor mounts and update your front suspension too. The rear ends out of the donor cars can usually be used also. Now if you have never subframed a car it will take patients and some skill at welding. You have to measure properly 3 or 4 times then cut with a torch or sawzall and then weld the newer frame to the… [cont.]

A. just remeber..u wil have to change door locks if u chance ingntion bar..id say ur key is just wore out nout ur ingntion bar..

How do you disable the airbag on a Chevy Uplander?
Q. We need to know how to disable the passenger-side airbag on a 2006 Chevy Uplander. We can see an off/on indicator on the dash, but it doesn't appear to be a control button. This is a rental car and did not come with an owner's manual.

A. It cannot be disabled except by the dealer and after you have signed papers (as the owner). The light on the dash simply lets you know if the airbag unit is activated for the passenger seat. It is not activated if there is no weight in the seat

What is the proper way to make sure Chevy service department actually repairs vehicle?
Q. I am filing a claim with the BBBAutoLine concerning my 2005 Chevy Equinox which has numerous problems. I must go through the BBB Arbitation (which is paid for by the manufacturer!!) before I can hire a lawyer to defend my claim. My car is at the shop as we speak to get the carpets changed due to numerous unexplainable water leaks. The Service Manager has lied several times such as telling me my carpet not have padding underneath it (it was beginning to mildew and smells awful) and they have also lied regarding the cause of the leak there is something seriously wrong with my car but they have done everything in their power to make it more difficult for my claim including lieing on repair orders and telling me it is all my fault. … [cont.]

A. you can go to another chevy shop you dont have to use the same one your waranty is nation wide also if you think they are not doing the repairs you could go to ford shop or any shop that is ASE certifed and have them check it mark the part with a UV light after chevy dose the repair to check that they did the repair as to the water leak I would say it was the heater hose and leaked behind the fire wall into the pasanger floor board any ASE shop could have marked the hose before the repair and checked it after same with almost any part .
