A. Look in the Broadway section on www.sheetmusicplus.com and you will get more ideas than you can ever use. I no longer make specific recommendations for songs because it's just a waste of my time... I don't know you or your group's abilities... so if you just look where I told you to look, you will get all the ideas for songs you can use

What is the most famous Broadway musical?
Q. I'm in the middle of a debate over what the most famous Broadway musical is. I keep saying that it is Phantom of the Opera, but my cousin keeps saying that it is Les Miserables. I know that Wicked and Cats are really popular as well, and so is Grease (Or is that even on Broadway?). Any and all help is appreciated on the answer to this question.
Asked by isayssoccer - Thu Jun 21 16:10:23 2007 - - 13 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Phantom of the Opera currently holds the title of the longest running show in Broadway history...(surpassing Cats by quite a bit). However... Les Miserables currently holds the title of the longest running show in the West End. That production has been open longer than Phantom has been. Both were written within a year of each other... both have had international productions. Both were multiple Tony Winners. I don't think it's really an issue that has an absolute answer. (But for sure it's not Cats)

A. I like "Happily Ever After" from Once Upon a Mattress, myself. It's pretty funny and gives you the opportunity to show off your acting--plus it's not one of those songs that people hear all the time, so you won't be compared to as many other people.

A. There's a booth right in the middle of Times Square called "TKTS" where you can get last minute cut-rate tickets to all the big shows, so go there every day and get on line and you'll do great!! Good luck, and the link below is to a webpage all about the TKTS booths...

A. I can't think of anything that is specifically for 3 voices but there is a song in 'A New Brain' by William Finn that is upbeat and comedic. 'Gordo's Law of Genetics' it is a great song and might fit what you need. It may be for more than three voices but I think it can be arranged easily enough .

How do I decorate a Broadway themed bedroom?
Q. My 10 year old wants a Broadway themed bedroom. What colour to paint the walls? What "extras" can I do to make it special? She has lots of posters, awards and autographs, is that enough? How to frame them to make them stand out? Any suggestions appreciated.

A. It would be really cool if you could do murals on the wall like a broadway sign on one wall (you know like coming soon to broadway then youre daughter's name) then on another wall a chorus line (of dancers in gold or something fun liek that) If that seems to tacky then maybe decorate it to look like the inside of a nice theater with rich colors of red or blue then have one wall painted to look like a stage. As for framing things i dont know if it would be possihble but if you could frame them in lights that would just be a really cool touch.

A. If you go to www.showtixinc.com or www.broadway.com - you will find listing of show openings and closings. We often JUMP on tickets when something is in development or rehearsal - we have gotten cheap tickets to fabulous things that way. I take school groups every year - 150 kids at a time - to shows. We live 100 miles north - easy for us.

A. Yes, it would be classed as a Broadway show, but Jason Robert Brown is frowned on at auditions, because it's very difficult for the pianist, and if the accompanist is struggling with it then you're not going to be shown to your best advantage. So unless it's another JRB show that you're auditioning for, steer clear. Sondheim is the same.

Any ideas on how to get onto broadway as a musician?
Q. I'm a musician living in Boston, thinking of moving to New York. I want to play on broadway, among other things. Does anyone know how to get into that field? Any contact info, or websites, or whatever is appreciated. Thanks!

A. Are you a member of Local 9-535, or another Musician's Union in Boston? The definitive and short answer is that if you are not a card-carrying member of the American Federation of Musicians, you are not working on Broadway...no matter how good you may play. Now, there are some smaller regional theaters who sometimes will hire non-union musicians for shows, but there aren't enough of those places to keep you going for very long...and you have to travel to find them. If you do have a card, then I would contact the union reps at Local 802, and let them know what your plans are. They may be of assistance to you in making your transition from the Boston scene to NYC a bit easier. As a member, you can at least check out the call boards at… [cont.]

Does anyone know of a good play on broadway?
Q. I am 15 years old and I'd like to see a play on broadway in Chicago. Any suggestions?
Asked by Nickname - Mon Mar 5 13:00:04 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I know of two plays in Chicago right now (there may be more): "Wicked" and "the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." I have not seen Spelling Bee, but my best friend recommended it saying it was really funny. Wicked is amazing!! It's funny, exciting, and has really awesome music. It takes place before the Wizard of Oz, and tells how Glinda and the Wicked Witch got to where they are, as well as some other characters. I hope I helped!
